Many companies find themselves in a transition phase between paper based operations to digital based ones. This digitalization process can be slow and painful, but at ACE-ISS we have helped companies with this exact process.
Below we shall summarize our implementation of AVEVA Reports for Operations, while working closely with our customers and patterns.
Challenges
- paper based forms
- aggregation of data by supervisors to some Excel file(s)
- manual data insertion in accounting software
- mistakes are common
- steps are sometimes forgotten
- lack of automated data reading from equipment even when technically possible
- poor insight in equipment downtime and low production
Goals
- eliminate slow paper forms
- reduce errors
- reduce downtime and increase productivity
- replicate existing reports, such as production reports
- have reports that show OEE, downtime count and reasons
Results
Data ingest
- transition to digital forms that enforce standards, allowed values, allowed insertion times and minimize errors
- web reports and forms that can be accessed by people in the company - no need for Client software (except their browser)
- user/group based authorization for reports - restrict report viewing by unauthorized users
- reading data from other sources directly in AVEVA Reports (from WinCC and also from MODBUS TCP)
Reports
- aggregation and calculation reports (for example SUMs, AVERAGEs, MAX, MIN, ON and OFF COUNTER, Electric Meter etc) for Production
- reports calculating and presenting OEE, equipment downtime, availability
- daily creation of CSV reports, to be then imported in accounting software
- allowing users select start and finish data&time for the web report, and providing button to save this report as PDF
- reports can also be automatically sent over email, at designated hours
Database
- one source of truth
- automatic SQL database backups (delta daily and full weekly)
